Shelton
Shelton, once known as "Cota," sits on the ancestral land of the Squaxin Island Tribe, the traditional caretakers of the region. They’ve lived off these lands for thousands of years before settlers arrived. When the logging industry took off in the late 1800s, the town was renamed after pioneer David Shelton. Now, it’s a mix of old-school timber history and modern life, with deep ties to its tribal origins.
